What is The Original Tech Talent Academy programme?
Simply put, it’s an ten week flexible full-time tech training programme at a heavily subsidised cost.
We are set to bring new thinking to tech. Our intention is to support diverse technology talent into the sector and make it affordable. Together we build your career with new tech skills and we transform companies with diverse tech talent.
Who is it for?
The TechTalent Academy is for self-motivated, ambitious people who want a tech career, particularly those from under-represented groups. You don’t need experience, but you’ll be eager to learn and curious about all things tech. It’s important that you can start full-time training from January 2020.
What will you learn?
We crafted the course content based on industry and real-world skill requirements, considering skill-gaps, to ensure that our graduates’ skill-sets set them up for a long-term career in tech, graduating ready to be employed.
Week 1 – Python
Our introductory week on the course begins by looking at your first language Python. You will learn the fundamentals of Python, building simple scripts and how to develop more complex applications.
Week 2 – Agile
During week 2 we’ll learn how Agile projects and running an Agile team can benefit the development process, focus on the methodology and team processes. You will also have the opportunity to understand scrum and techniques to manage Agile teams.
Week 3 – HTML / CSS
We move onto learning about website structure using HTML and CSS. You will gain understanding of the building blocks of HTML 5 and CSS, to develop a functioning website, covering a range of elements including CSS positioning, styling, media, audio and more.
Week 5 – Java
This week we will learn another language – Java. In Java you will learn how to work with streams, file systems and configuring applications in client – based or server-side environments.
Week 6 – Github
You will understand how to use Git Hub to manage projects, as a site to manage development, exploring a variety of features. You will also have the opportunity to learn about GitHub for Windows, covering some of the social coding aspects.
Week 7 – Data Management
We spend some time exploring Data Science this week, with the opportunity to understand data mining from images and text. We will also build on your new website skills using the LAMP components of MySQL and PHP.
Week 8 – Choose between two options this week, AWS or Cyber Security
Option 1 AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) will offer you the chance to learn how to develop applications that use the variety of services offered by AWS. Inclusive of deploying applications, store & retrieve data and infrastructure.
Option 2 Cyber Security
By selecting this option, you will learn about the fundamentals of software security and world of cyber security from the developer’s perspective. You will learn how to find and fix bugs quicker, also have the opportunity to develop skills in reverse engineering and understand the defences needed by writing exploits.
Week 9 Code Challenge
This week you will take part in a code challenge, using the skills you have learnt and putting them into practice to provide a solution to a ‘real world’ scenario.
Week 10 Project
Throughout the course you will of been working on a project , this week is the opportunity to complete and present your final product.
Week 11 & 12 Certification Preparation
We will prepare you to complete your certification and gain your qualification.
How much will it cost?
This is the really exciting part, you can train to be a Full Stack Developer on our intro course for as little as £4,750. We have heavily subsidised* the cost to support and join you on your journey. *Standard training of this quality typically costs between £8,000 to £14,000 per course.
What is the process?
The process is simple. You apply to then have an initial chat with the TechTalent Academy team. If successful, you are invited to an interview and if it’s a good fit for you, you’ll receive the offer to start training. You then embark on your 8 week full-time flexible training program.
Prior to completion we’ll be engaging with employers to open up opportunities for you and support you with interviews and engagement with the technology sector.
The TechTalent Academy team remain on hand as your coach and mentor for another 6 weeks, until you are settled into your new role.
