Develop new skills for a successful career in Data Science!

Our diverse Data Academy is a full or part-time data programme aimed at upskilling individuals to an entry-level standard. We have developed the course content based on industry, academic and the skills required for real-world problems.

The course has taken into consideration all the critical skills necessary to ensure that our graduates gain the skills they need for a long-term career in tech. We focus on getting our graduates are job-ready with hard and soft skills, including communication, collaborative working, creativity, problem-solving and the ability to work to deadlines in an agile environment.

During the Data Academy students will earn: BCS Foundation Certificate in Machine Learning and the Python Institute’s Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer Certification (PCEP). On completion of the BCS certificate students will receive a free 1-year Associate Membership to BCS.

Learn the latest skills like Python, AI, Machine Learning,
Cloud and more.

Get ready for a career in high demand areas like Data Science or AI.

Earn a qualification from BCS & The Python Institute.

Build your network with peers and industry professionals.

Each module has either a practical project or tasks to demonstrate skills. Either of these approaches provides the delegate with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.

Modules include:

  • Python Fundamentals
  • Data Science with Python: Introduction to NumPy and Pandas
  • Data Science with Python: Introduction to Algorithms, Machine and Deep Learning
  • Introduction to Modelling and Data Visualisation
  • Big Data & Databases (SQL)
  • Data Science with R Studio

Learning objectives:

  • Fundamental understanding of programming and the different techniques through Python and various industry-standard libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Sci-Kit Learn, TensorFlow, Altair, Matplotlib and Seaborn).
  • Apply algorithms to build machine intelligence.
  • Using data visualisation techniques through R.
  • Recognise and analyse ethical issues of cloud computing, data security and artificial intelligence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques through data analysis.
  • Apply principles of Data Science to analyse problems.
  • Use data mining techniques to solve real-world problems.
  • Developing databases suitable for containing big data by using SQL.
  • Developing teamwork, leadership and decision making/problem-solving skills.
