Software Academy

The Software Academy is full-stack software development course aimed at upskilling/reskilling diverse individuals to an entry-level standard. The course is aimed at people who are looking for a long-term career in software development.

We have developed the course content based on skills required in the software industry. We focus on getting our graduates job-ready with hard and soft skills, including communication, collaborative working, creativity, problem-solving and the ability to work to deadlines in an agile environment.

During the Software Academy students will earn the BCS Foundation Certificate in Agile. On completion of the BCS certificate students will receive a free 1-year Associate Membership to BCS.

Techtalent Academy

The Software Academy course focuses on fundamental areas. The aim is to equip all trainees with a blend of technical and personal skills to launch their career. The technical part of the course is significantly hands-on and includes completing practical tasks and projects to consolidate the learning in a real-life environment. The course combines trainer led sessions and self study.

Each module has either a practical project or tasks to demonstrate skills. Either of these approaches provides the delegate with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.

  • Coding Fundamentals
  • Introduction to Object Oriented Programming
  • Introduction to Test Driven Development
  • Introduction to Data Analysis
  • HTML and CSS Fundamentals
  • Introduction to JavaScript and Interactive and Responsive Web Design
  • Introduction to Full-Stack Applications
  • Security Fundamentals
  • Agile Foundation (BCS)

Eligibility for a free/fully-funded space:

  • Live full time in the West Midlands, Yorkshire & The Humber or North East of England areas (postcode dependant)
  • MUST be looking to move into a tech role within 3 months of finishing the academy
  • Be fully committed to starting a career in tech OR moving into a tech function with your current employer
  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Have a National Insurance number
  • Can engage with the course sessions and commit to completing the course
  • Have not already completed a TTA funded academy
  • Possess computing equipment (laptop or computer only) and steady internet connection to undergo the training
