TTA joins Neurodiversity in Business as founding member

5 REASONS TO WORK IN TECH

We are proud to announce that TechTalent Academy has joined Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) as a founding member.

NiB is a business-led organisation that will function as a forum to support neurodivergent individuals in the workplace and share industry good practices on ND recruitment and empowerment. NiB’s vision is to strengthen a corporate environment where neurodivergent individuals are understood, empowered, and form an invaluable part of the work culture.

It is estimated that roughly 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent (more than 15 per cent of people in the UK). Yet such a small proportion of this group are in any form of employment (Only 1 in 10 organisations are focusing on neurodiversity at work), which is why NiB is creating a community to share insight and help drive change.

5 REASONS TO WORK IN TECH

Neurodiversity is complex, it requires understanding of different individuals and their own experience of being neurodiverse, for example ADHD, Dyspraxia, Autism, Delayed Language Development, Dyscalculia, Tourette’s, dyslexia and acquired brain injury to name a few. Neurodiversity in Business’ mission is to educate, demonstrate, celebrate, and empower individuals. By embracing Neurodiversity and the contributions of neurodiverse individuals it allows businesses to enable their teams, unleashing long term potential and a unique way of thinking.

Neurodiversity in Business was launched at an event hosted at the Houses of Parliament. The new organisation has a close-knit community of partners leading the way in the understanding neurodivergence; The ADHD Foundation, the British Dyslexia Association, Do-IT profiler, Auticon, Ambitious about Autism, Caudwell Children’s Charity, Diversity and Ability, Genius Within, National Autistic Society, Lexxic and many more.

TechTalent Academy has and always will continue to support anyone who identifies as neurodivergent and welcomes all allies who can support and advocate for the community. It is our vision to embrace and celebrate individuals’ unique minds so that everyone can be their true and authentic selves by being understood and empowered.

To create a truly inclusive work environment takes action. Therefore, we want to inspire people not just to think inclusively, but to engage and act in an inclusive way. We spend so much time and energy at work, that it is important that our people connect with each other, understand different experiences, and feel that they have a voice to tell their story and be heard. That is why we are driving a culture change to create a truly inclusive organisation, where everybody feels valued, included, and empowered to be their best.
